Our Story
We were a ‘normal’ family, Skye and his younger brother Jesse were happy, healthy children who loved life. Skye was excited about starting school, our worries were insignificant and we had no idea what lay ahead.
At just four and a half years old, our son Skye was diagnosed with an aggressive, cancerous brain tumour and in that moment, our family’s world changed forever.
Following surgery and a gruelling treatment regime, Skye was left unable to walk or do many of the things that ‘normal’ children his age would do. Despite this, Skye said he was determined to “help other children like me.” Throughout his illness, with our support, he raised funds and awareness for children with brain tumours and thrived in knowing he was doing something so important to help others.
Skye fought bravely throughout his illness but sadly he lost his battle not long before his 6th birthday. In the midst of our grief, we were determined to carry on with Skye’s mission. Through Blue Skye Thinking, we are doing all that we can to make sure Skye’s dream becomes a reality, raising awareness and vital funds to help other children with brain cancer, just like him.
